Victory Church hosts Thanksgiving meal distribution

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A local church is ensuring all families have what they need to celebrate Thanksgiving. Victory Church in Albany handed out turkeys, fruits and vegetables to around 150 families on Wednesday.

The church hosts a food giveaway every Wednesday. Pastor Charlie Muller said the giveaway takes on special meaning the week of Thanksgiving, giving people a place to turn to for help if they have nowhere else to go.

"I thought I wasn't going to have a turkey for this Thanksgiving, so I said, 'Oh well, so I came over here,'" Angelina Valcarcel said. "Look, God is good all the time. Look, and I got a turkey."

The church will also distribute prepared Thanksgiving meals from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday. The pastor said he expects to serve an additional 150 families during the giveaway on Thanksgiving day.
