How to watch Warriors vs. Thunder

The Golden State Warriors play the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00PM PT in San Francisco and can be watched on ESPN and NBC Sports Bay Area.

Previously with the Warriors:

Golden State dropped consecutive games for the first time this season after losing to the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, 128-120. The Warriors led 86-68 late in the third quarter but failed to hold onto another big lead as their offense stagnated down the stretch. Brooklyn finished the game outscoring Golden State 41-28 in the fourth quarter, completing the comeback while handing the Warriors their fifth loss of the season.

While Stephen Curry had a team-high 28 points on the night, the Nets’ Dennis Schroder was the game’s leading scorer with 17 of his 31 points made in the fourth quarter. Head coach Steve Kerr said the team ”lost juice again” after dropping a big double digit lead for the second game in a row.

What to watch for tonight:

Wednesday night’s matchup features the top two teams in the Western Conference standings in the Warriors and the Thunder. Both rank top five in overall net rating in the league, specifically shining on the defensive side of the floor where Golden State ranks fourth in defensive rating with the Thunder taking the top spot as the league’s best in that category.

Both teams, however, will head into tonight’s matchup dealing with significant absences. The Thunder continue to play without star center Chet Holmgren after he suffered a pelvic fracture during the last meeting between these two teams earlier this month. On the Warriors’ side, it was announced that superstar point guard Stephen Curry will miss tonight’s game due to bilateral knee pain.

Curry’s absence will be significant as the Warriors’ offense has struggled recently, even when he was in the lineup. However, Curry looked fatigued having played three games in four days, so the rest could be beneficial for him as the Warriors don’t play again until Saturday night.

In Curry’s absence, expect Brandin Podziemski to step into the starting point guard role. Podziemski is experiencing the dreaded sophomore slump this season, shooting just 36.8% from the field and a concerning 19.3% from three-point range. Though his injuries have contributed to these struggles, tonight’s start could hopefully be the opportunity he needs to regain his confidence and turn his season around.
