‘What wrong have I done…’: Prithvi Shaw reacts to trolling after SNUBBED in IPL 2025 Mega Auction

New Delhi: Prithvi Shaw, once regarded as the future star of Indian cricket, has now fallen out of contention for a place in the national team. His situation hit a new low when he went unsold in the IPL 2024 mega auction on Monday. Despite setting his base price at ₹75 lakh, no franchises showed interest in acquiring the Mumbai batter.

A video of Prithvi Shaw went viral after he remained unsold in the IPL auction, where he discussed coping with relentless trolling.

The video was initially shared by the YouTube channel “Focused Indian” just before the IPL auction in Jeddah. In it, Shaw spoke about the constant trolling on social media and how he handles it. He mentioned that although trolls don’t follow him on any platform, they still keep a close watch on his activities, which he viewed positively. However, he admitted that the trolling sometimes affects him emotionally.

“If he’s not following me, then how will he troll? That means he has eyes on me, nice. I feel like trolling is not a good thing, but it is not such a bad thing either,” Shaw said. “If people make memes on me, I see them as well. I sometimes get hurt,” he added in the video.

Prithvi Shaw responded to the harsh trolling after a video of him dancing at a party went viral, explaining that it was his birthday and questioning the logic behind the criticism.

“I was wondering what wrong have I done. I know if I am doing anything wrong. But if something is not wrong, it should be shown in that light,” Shaw said

Shaw was released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the mega auction after being with the team since 2018. Despite his inconsistent performances, the Capitals supported him for seven seasons. Recently, Shaw was dropped from the Mumbai team, reportedly due to fitness and disciplinary issues. He reduced his base price from ₹2 crore to ₹75 lakh, but failed to attract any bids in the mega auction.
