Kompany ponders permutations of Champions League format
November 28 – Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany says he doesn’t fully understand the new Champions League format.
Bayern earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Paris St Germain on Tuesday to improve their chances of reaching the knockout stage, but Kompany says the previous group stage system was far easier to comprehend.
It was the Bundesliga leaders’ third victory in five matches under the Champions League’s new format, lifting them to 11th in the 36-team table with nine points.
