Thanksgiving dinners on Allie B's Cozy Kitchen

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -Allie B Williams has been giving out free meals on Thanksgiving for eleven years. She told NEWS10's Anthony Krolikowski that her giving spirit comes from a time of need.

"20 years ago, I was in a shelter and the shelter gave us a meal, took us to a restaurant. So what I do is give the community what they give to me: love."

Thanks to the help of around 50 volunteers, Allie B's made sure families from Saratoga to Montgomery Counties have food on their tables. "I'm going to say about 2,500 to 2,600 [meals]. I know it's like, 'What?! In this little place?' But yes, we started Saturday."

Meals packed with turkey, rice, greens and even dessert were either delivered or available for pickup on Turkey Day. Anyone was welcome to take something home no matter what their home life is like.

“You needing support doesn’t mean that you’re poor. What it means is that you want to be happy and that’s what we’re about," explained Allie B."

And all of this volunteering is only a fraction of what’s to come. "When you live in the Capital Region and you work in the Capital Region and you believe in the Capital Region, we can do anything through food."
