Parth Jindal speaks on Rumours of break between Rishabh Pant and Delhi Capitals management

At the IPL 2025 auctions, Rishabh Pant took a record-breaking move as he got taken in by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a whopping amount of Rs. 27 crore. However, it did come with the last-minute efforts by Delhi Capitals (DC) to make things right for their former captain. DC co-owner Parth Jindal has now opened up about the initial plan of the franchise, which was to take in both Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant.

In response to the rumours of breaking between Pant and DC management, Parth stated that the disagreements began when Rishabh indicated his choices about team’s leadership. In an attempt to keep him, the franchise mad use of their
RTM card and put reconciliation as their top priority.

In the end, LSG gave an amouht which DC could not take, hence LSG went away with taking the star wicketkeeper-batter for a massive sum of Rs. 27 crore.

We were willing to take that chance because of my relationship with Rishabh. Obviously, Delhi has two owners, GMR and JSW, we were all on the same wavelength, Kiran and I, in terms of what we discussed with Rishabh. When we felt that that commitment from his side was not forthcoming, then we felt it was better that he goes into the auction and we target somebody else in the auction,” Parth Jindal said.

I think we were on different wavelengths. He felt that he felt that he should have a say in some of these things (coach and director of cricket decisions)and we felt that’s a franchise prerogative, so we couldn’t really agree. We agreed to disagree,” he added.
