New Delhi: Former South-African captain Faf Du Plessis fell over the advertising board while saving a boundary during a live T-10 match in the Abu Dhabi T-10 League, recently. Luckily, there were no injury as the players soon stood up and returned on to the field.
The incident took place on the final ball of the eighth over. On November 26, while playing for the Morrisville Samp Army against the Delhi Bulls, Du Plessis sprinted to the boundary to cut off a shot from Tim David and save a few runs for his team. However, he didn’t notice that the ball boy at the boundary line had bent down to collect the ball.
To avoid colliding with the ball boy, Du Plessis leaped over the advertising board. Fortunately, the 40-year-old landed on the grass banks, quickly recovered, and resumed his duties on the field.

Earlier in the match, Du Plessis scored 11 runs off five balls while opening the innings for his team. In a thrilling finish, Morrisville Samp Army narrowly defeated the Delhi Bulls by two runs, securing their fifth consecutive win in the tournament.
Faf du Plessis was picked up by Delhi Capitals in the 2025 IPL Auction. In the Capped Batters Set 2, DC placed a bid at his base price of ₹2 crore and successfully acquired him.
This marks Du Plessis’ fourth IPL franchise, after stints with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rising Pune Supergiants (RPSG), and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). As captain of RCB, he led the team to the playoffs twice and was a consistent run-scorer for the franchise.
