Spure refuse to rule out deal to sign struggling forward next summer
Tottenham Hotspur are refusing to rule out signing an attacker, who has been the source of much frustration for Spurs fans this season.
Timo Werner has demonstrated his value to Spurs
Timo Werner has come under a lot of criticism of late, with the winger’s lack of composure in front of goal leaving fans and pundits frustrated.
However, it would be hard to argue that the German has not shown his usefulness as a squad option at a time when Tottenham have a couple of injuries to the forward line.
He has stepped up with some important contributions of late and has looked threatening on the left with his willingness to run at defenders.
Spurs have not ruled out keeping Timo Werner next season
GiveMeSport have now revealed that Tottenham have refused to rule out the possibility of Werner remaining at the club beyond the end of this season.
It is pointed out that Spurs have the option to sign him permanently for £8.5m next summer, with the North London club yet to decide whether they want to take up the option.
The report says that Spurs are open to the possibility of keeping the 28-year-old at Hotspur Way and are holding off on making a decision on his future at this stage.
Werner’s loan will not be cut short
However, GiveMeSport make it clear that there is no chance that Werner’s loan spell will be cut short in January, with Spurs not interested in sending him back to Leipzig mid-season.
Ange Postecoglou values the depth that the former Chelsea man adds to his squad and is not thought to have entertained the idea of ending his stay at the club at the turn of the year.
In fact, the publication adds that the Spurs head coach is happy with the role that Werner has played over recent weeks and continues to have faith in the forward.
