Tottenham showed a fighting spirit against Man City

It would have been easy for the Spurs players to feel sorry for themselves going into the clash against Manchester City, given that they were coming off a loss against Ipswich Town and were without several of their key players.

However, instead, they battled for every inch at the Etihad, putting their bodies on the line and playing for each other.

It was the sort of performance that proved beyond doubt that there is plenty of belief that runs through the Tottenham changing room at the moment.

Radu Dragusin stresses family feel

Dragusin, who was part of a heroic Spurs backline which emerged with a clean sheet from the Etihad, revealed that the players had talked about being a ‘family’ and sticking together after their recent losses.

The defender insisted that there is a genuine belief at the club that they can achieve something special this season.

The Romanian told the club’s official website: “We’ve been talking a lot about family, you know, about staying together, sticking together in the tough times. We know we’ve had a couple of games that we’ve lost, but we talked between us, and we said we have to keep the team together, to keep the same feeling between us and believe we can achieve something special.

“We showed we are more than team-mates because of the way we suffered… an away game against City is one of the hardest games you can play, and we did an unbelievable performance.”

Dejan Kulusevski says Spurs players will fight for each other

Like his teammate, Kulusevski also referred to the Spurs squad as a ‘family’, remarking that they will continue having each other’s back on the pitch.

The Swede stressed the effort and belief it took for the side to emerge with such a big win from the Etihad with so many of their key men out.

He stated: “It’s the only way… the only way to win games is when you play for your family, when you see your guys in danger, when you help them defensively and when you have the ball. We are a family, you know, no family is perfect, but at least we will protect each other.

“We have a lot of good, good players away with the with Romero, with Micky, with Richy, with Bentancur, and we come here and do this performance, so it should be a big day for the fans and for us. You know, we can’t take this for granted. We really have to enjoy it.”
