Trump's team 'tends to not understand the realities of Congress': reporter
A panel on MSNBC chucked at the idea that Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress tend not to learn from previous failures.
Congress returns to Washington next week, where it faces a government funding bill and a number of nominations that still need to be approved in the U.S. Senate.
"The flip side is that it puts a very difficult issue on Congress's plate right smack in the middle of the first 100 days of the Trump presidency when Republicans are talking about their desire to do big things in terms of their agenda," said Punchbowl News' Andrew Desiderio talking about the funding bill if Congress pushes it back another few months.

MSNBC host Katy Tur told reporter Ryan Nobles that she remembered the budget battle not going well for Republicans five years ago.
"Well, Katy, if there is anything we have learned about the members of Congress, it's that they don't tend to learn lessons from their past mistakes," Nobles said with a laugh, prompting Tur to chuckle.
He noted that each time the funding deadlines come up lawmakers wait until the last minute to do something.
"The Trump administration has learned some lessons from the first time around and will be a bit more prepared to go into these funding fights with a little bit more of a long-term plan, as far as what they want to execute," Nobles claimed.
He explained that Trump's upcoming legislative priorities will involve hefty sums. Things like tax cuts and Trump's mass deportations could have large price tags.

Tur asked Desiderio whether the incoming Trump administration would be any better on the legislation front, recalling that "Infrastructure Week" turned into a joke. The two laughed at the ongoing joke.
"I remember it well," Desiderio said. You can't take any of that off the table in terms of possibilities, but one thing that Donald Trump has shown, and those close to him, within his inner circle, as they tend to not understand the realities of Congress."
