Jamie O’Hara makes Tottenham top four claim after Man City win
Jamie O’Hara says Tottenham Hotspur have shown that they are good enough to finish in the top four but issued a major warning to his former side.
The narrative around Spurs has changed completely
Following the loss to Ipswich Town, many were suggesting that Tottenham were in crisis, with some even questioning whether Ange Postecoglou‘s job was under threat.
However, things have changed completely after Tottenham’s thumping win over Man City, with the result taking the Lilywhites to sixth place in the table, with Postecoglou’s men now just four points behind City in second.
Jamie O’Hara on Tottenham’s top four chances
O’Hara opined that the performance that the North London side delivered at the Etihad was their best of the season so far.
He suggested that Spurs have a great chance of qualifying for the Champions League if they produce displays like that, but admitted that they have to find a level of consistency to achieve that objective.
The pundit told Grosvenor Sport: “Tottenham have a massive chance of top four if they can play like that more consistently. I’m not going to give it the big ‘Jamie O’Hara says Spurs are back!’, but it was a big performance. They must go and win again, if they were to do that every week then you’d be talking about winning the title, but they don’t because they are inconsistent, that’s the issue.
“That was by far the best performance I’ve seen from Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou and fair play to those players, they have come under pressure recently, as well as the manager.”
O’Hara explains frustration after Spurs’ performance against City
The talkSPORT pundit confessed that a part of him was frustrated to see Spurs turn on the style at the Etihad and show how good they can be when they are at their best.
He questioned why the players were not able to approach games against weaker sides with a similar mentality.
O’Hara added: “They played so well, that is how good Spurs can be and it’s almost frustrating to see that performance after the games against Crystal Palace and Ipswich.
“There must be a level of consistency, you can’t drop so far to the level of previous weeks, I accept you’re not going to get everybody playing that well every week, but you’ve outperformed the champions Manchester City in their backyard.”
