During a press conference at the festival, where he is serving on director Luca Gaudagnino jury, Andrew admitted that he’s tried to distance himself from being asked about the franchise, saying that he’s “had to work very hard to have less people ask questions about Spider-Man.”
“I’m still working on it, obviously. It’s an imperfect process,” he joked, stressing that he was “grateful for that time,” via Variety.
He added that starring in the movies also helped lay the groundwork for future projects, saying “it allowed [him] to maybe have an easier shot at working with people like Martin Scorsese straight after.”
Andrew worked with Martin on 2016′s Silence.
“I think Marty probably was able to get a passion project made with a guy who played Spider-Man in the lead to play a Jesuit priest in the 1600s of Japan. The fact that that film got made with the help of Spider-Man is a beautiful thing,” he said.
If you missed it, the actor recently admitted to being “scared” by the fame that came with the role. He also revealed if he would play the hero again.
