'Pretty awesome': J.D. Vance reacts to Kash Patel being compared to Soviet secret police
Vice President-elect J.D. Vance declared that Kash Patel, the expected nominee for FBI director, "must be pretty awesome" after he was compared to the former head of the Soviet Union's secret police.
In a statement to NBC News, former National Security Advisor John Bolton said the U.S. Senate should unanimously reject Patel's nomination.
"Trump has nominated Kash Patel to be his Lavrenty Beria. Fortunately, the FBI is not the NKVD. The Senate should reject this nomination 100-0," Bolton explained.
Beria was known for organizing the massacre of 22,000 Polish officers in 1940 and was said to have raped scores of young girls. He was executed in 1953.

On Sunday, Vance claimed Bolton's criticism was evidence that President-elect Donald Trump had made the right choice.
"John Bolton has been wrong about everything so I guess Kash must be pretty awesome," Vance wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
