Iconic sporting tournament brutally mocked after introducing new logo that ‘looks like a Mars bar ad’

FANS have mocked the rebranded Six Nations logo and compared it to a “Mars bar advert”.

The iconic tournament has ditched their old look that featured a rugby ball and the colours of all six countries in favour of a bold new design.

The logo is now a red rugby ball with the phrase “M6N” written over the top in orange.

Guinness and their distinctive harp remains at the top as they continue as the title sponsors.

Six Nations chiefs have made the switch so the men’s competition is aligned to the women’s and Under-20 events.

They use “W6N” and “U6N” for their logos in the same font.

But fans do not like the rebrand and have slammed it as having “zero identity”.

And due to the colour scheme used on top of a black background, others joked: “Thought this was an ad for Mars bars.”

Another added: “Looks like a design brief for Mars bars.”

A third wrote: “Did a nine-year-old win a competition to design this?”

More reacted: “This is the ugliest thing I have ever seen.”

The Six Nations say “extensive research and consultations with fans” led to them making the change to “create a consistent and versatile family of brands”.

Their statement added: “Connecting its rich heritage with the modern game, and articulated through a distinctive and bold new brand, it is designed to resonate with everyone from new and existing fans to the players and unions competing in this iconic Championship.

“Six Nations Rugby has created a brand identity that celebrates the heritage of its Men’s Championship, while its bold visual designs reflect today’s game and how fans feel about the sport.

“The modern brand is defined by its distinctive orange colourway, signifying the optimism fans feel when they get together at the end of winter to experience the Six Nations together.”
