Patriots Defender Took Issue With No-Call On Game-Winning Play

FOXBORO, Mass. — At least one Patriots defender seems to believe the biggest play of the game was an illegal one.

New England defensive tackle Christian Barmore wasn’t happy with a specific no-call, which came on the Indianapolis Colts’ game-winning two-point conversion attempt.

“Felt like I had good position. I felt like someone was holding my leg,” Barmore told ESPN’s Mike Reiss after New England’s 25-24 defeat at Gillette Stadium. “Quenton Nelson is a good player and he came and got me, but I felt like somebody was holding my leg. Real frustrating.”

There’s a case to be made for Barmore, too. Colts offensive tackle Matt Goncalves seemed to pull at Barmore below the waist after the defensive tackle swam past him off the ball. Indianapolis guard Quenton Nelson appeared to come in above the waist at the same time Goncalves grabbed at his legs.

It’s not like officials will overturn the call, of course. But given multiple Patriots defenders referred to it as the play of the game, it might not sit well while watching the film.
