Tottenham now dealing with a full-blown injury crisis

Spurs’ injury list has been growing steadily over the last few weeks and the situation has now got so bad that Ange Postecoglou is having to name academy players in the matchday squad to fill his entire quota.

The Lilywhites are without Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Rodrigo Bentancur (suspension), Wilson Odobert, Mikey Moore and Richarlison.

To make matters worse, Dominic Solanke missed the game against Fulham after coming down with an illness while Archie Gray, who came on as a late substitute, came away from the game with a dead leg.

Ange Postecoglou provides injury update

According to Alasdair Gold, Postecoglou confirmed after the game that neither Crisitan Romero nor Micky van de Ven have trained with the squad yet.

The Tottenham head coach admitted that he is not sure if Romero will be able to return in time for the club’s trip to Bournemouth on Thursday.

However, he did confirm that he expects Solanke to be available to face his former side.

Tottenham’s lack of options upfront is the main concern

We have seen enough evidence over recent weeks that Ben Davies and Radu Dragusin are solid enough as a pairing to help Tottenham navigate through the next few weeks.

The real concern is in the forward line, with the injuries meaning that Postecoglou has almost no options to turn to on the bench.

While Solanke’s return will alleviate some of those issues, the club desperately need to add another winger to their squad early in the January window.
