Why Dominic Solanke was not selected for Tottenham vs Fulham
The Tottenham Hotspur team news was announced a little while ago for today’s Premier League match against Fulham.
No Dominic Solanke in the match day squad vs Fulham
Following the unveiling of Ange Postecoglou‘s starting XI to take on the Cottagers, many Spurs fans were wondering where Dominic Solanke was given he was left out of the match day squad.
Solanke featured in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against AS Roma on Thursday night and at one stage in the second half, he looked to overstretch for the ball and had some discomfort in his groin area.
Despite the niggle he sustained in the Europa League match, that is not the reason of his absence today.
Respected football journalist Alasdair Gold has taken to social media to explain why the England striker is not part of the squad.
Solanke was not feeling well ahead of Fulham match
Gold revealed that Solanke reported for duty at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but felt unwell, which resulted in the the decision to send him back home to recover.
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has also commented on the decision not to risk the forward for the match.
The Australian told the official Spurs site: “He came in today and he wasn’t looking the best, just under the weather. So we just sent him home. Hopefully a full recovery now ahead of the next one.”
Solanke will be hoping to be fit in time to face his former side when Tottenham make the trip to take on Bournemouth on Thursday evening.
