2024 was Austin's hottest meteorological Fall on record

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The 2024 meteorological fall season, which ran from September 1 to November 30, was the hottest fall season on record for Austin, Texas, with an average temperature of 75.8° at Camp Mabry.

Numerous heat-related records were set during the 2024 meteorological fall season, including the latest ever triple-digit day in recorded history (101° on Oct. 11).

The 2024 meteorological fall season was also the eighth driest on record, with only 2.63 inches of total precipitation at Camp Mabry. The majority of rain this fall was in November, with 2.26 inches of rain.

Drought levels worsened significantly throughout the 2024 meteorological fall season, with an extreme drought lasting for weeks in several counties in Central Texas into the winter season.

Most days during the 2024 meteorological fall were warmer than usual, aligning with the "more warm fall days" trend identified by Climate Central's research.
