Child dies after fatal assault at home in Wexford as man & woman, 30s, hospitalised & Gardai probe ‘all circumstances’
A CHILD has died following a fatal assault at a home in Co Wexford last night.
Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene after being called to a residence in New Ross at around 11:45pm.
The young girl was taken to University Hospital Waterford but sadly died from her injuries in the early hours of this morning.
A woman and man, both aged in their 30s, are receiving treatment at University Hospital Wexford.
Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Gardai this morning confirmed that they are “investigating all circumstances” surrounding the death of the girl.
A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at New Ross Garda Station.
The scene remains preserved for forensic examination.
The Coroner has been notified and the Garda Technical Bureau and Office of the State Pathologist have been requested to assist in the investigation.
A post-mortem examination will be scheduled.
Gardai have urged anyone who may have information that could assist their investigation to come forward.
In a statement this morning, a Garda spokesperson said: “Investigating Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have any information on this incident to come forward.
