One dead and second woman in hospital after collapsing suddenly in club

Chloe Ferris fell unconscious at the nightclub

A young woman has died after collapsing in a Belfast nightclub.

Chloe Ferris, who was in her 20s, collapsed at Lux nightclub in the Northern Irish capital in the early hours of Sunday morning.

But she had died by the time emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after 2.20am.

Another woman, who also lost consciousness at the same time as Chloe, was taken to hospital where she is still receiving treatment.

A death notice for Ms Ferris described her as a ‘beloved daughter’ and ‘much loved’ sister aunt, niece, and cousin.

It added she was part of the ‘Sister Squad’ and a friend to many, the BBC reports.

Chloe was a trainee at Enhance Belfast, a beauty training academy.

One of her former teachers said: ‘I had the privilege to teach Chloe. She was such a bubbly, bright and beautiful girl.’

The academy described Chloe as a ‘lovely student’ and said her sudden death was ‘absolutely heartbreaking’.

Staff at her former primary school, St Clare’s in Belfast, sent their ‘deepest sympathy to her mum, dad and brothers at this heartbreaking time’.

Police are now investigating her death and have asked anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson for Lux said: ‘Our thoughts and sympathies are with the parents and family during this very difficult time.

‘Our focus is now to help the police with their investigation and our staff wellbeing.’

The club was closed on Sunday evening.
