David Ornstein provides a big update on striker wanted by Spurs
David Ornstein has revealed that one Premier League starlet wanted by Tottenham Hotspur is soon expected to end up at one of the ‘big six’.
Youngster has hit the ground running in PL
While Liam Delap had been thought of as an exciting prospect for quite a long time at Manchester City, he never quite got enough game time to showcase his qualities for Pep Guardiola’s side.
The 21-year-old has wasted no time in proving his metal at the highest level since his summer move to Ipswich Town, having scored six goals in 13 Premier League matches this season.
Over recent weeks, several outlets have revealed that Tottenham are keen on snapping up the youngster, who is also wanted by the likes of Arsenal, Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
Liam Delap could soon be on the move
The Athletic’s David Ornstein has now claimed that even though Delap only made the move to Portman Road Stadium back in the summer, the youngster’s stay at the newly promoted club could be shortlived.
He claims that the striker has been tracked by many Premier League clubs for a long time and in light of his impressive showing for Ipswich, several of the ‘big six’ could come calling for him soon.
Ornstein adds that the expectation is that the England Under-21 international will be at one of the division’s elite clubs sooner rather than later.
Man City could ruin Tottenham plans for Liam Delap
Interestingly, Ornstein states that City ‘could technically scupper’ Delap from joining one of their big-six rivals. The report points out that the Premier League champions usually add either a buy-back clause or a right-to-match clause in most of their sales.
However, Orenstein does not specifically reveal if City have done so in Delap’s case, which suggests that the information is not known publicly.
Danny Murphy recently claimed that Liam Delap could be the heir to Harry Kane, which is something Tottenham would surely like to find.
