12/2/2024: A frosty week ahead

The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:

Lake effect snow continues to fall over parts of western and central New York today. A few flurries could sneak into the Catskills and Mohawk Valley, but we are otherwise quiet locally.

Temperatures are cold from start to finish, though! Expect highs only in the low to mid 30's. Yes, it's December... it's supposed to be chilly! But this is still roughly 10 degrees colder than average for the beginning of the month.

Tonight is another cold and quiet night. A few clouds overhead, with lows in the teens for most, and down to around 20 for Albany and surrounding towns.

Only a couple degrees warmer tomorrow, with highs in the mid to upper 30's. Otherwise, weather conditions look much the same with a chance for flurries west.

Better chance for widespread, accumulating snow Wednesday afternoon into the day Thursday. Totals look a bit less impressive than what we saw on Thanksgiving, but we could all get at least an inch or two.

Windy and frigid in the wake of that system - only in the 20's from start to finish on Friday! A few more snow showers are possible late in the day Saturday.
