CNN Republican Scott Jennings holds head-in-hands as panelist defends Biden pardon
Democratic operative Karen Finney clashed with Republican Scott Jennings on CNN Monday over President Joe Biden's controversial decision to pardon his son, Hunter Biden, after repeatedly insisting over the last year that he would not do so.
After being confronted by host John Berman with many of President-elect Donald Trump's multiple controversial pardons of political allies during his first term, Jennings accused Berman of trying to deflect attention from the impropriety of Biden's actions.
"You guys can try to spin this all day long that this is Donald Trump's fault, that this is somehow caused by Donald Trump," he said. "This is the worst thing a president could possibly do to his party and to the country. To sit for a year and say, 'I will not do this, I will not do this, the rule of law is sacred, we have to respect the justice system'... these people are liars!"
Jennings then scolded Finney for continuing to defend Biden even as he's leaving office.

"You can say this is wrong!" he told her.
The debate got heated with a clearly frustrated Jennings at one point putting his head in his hands.
"I think he made a decision that this was the right thing for him and for his family," she said.
She then elaborated on why Biden was right to pardon his son despite having vowed repeatedly not to do so.
"You should go ahead and protect your son, because who knows what Trump and Trump's Department of Justice will do, when they say that their Number 1 goal is retribution," she said. "How could you not take the opportunity to say, you know what, this is one thing that I can do for my child, this is one thing I can do to help get the target off his back... I just don't have a problem with Joe Biden doing this at all. Good for him."
