Jaguar’s new pink EV slammed as ‘just a woke Tesla’ as it’s unveiled days after car giant’s controversial rebrand

JAGUAR’s new pink EV has been slammed as “just a woke Tesla” – as it was unveiled days after the car giant’s controversial rebrand.

Images of the new electric car, which is set to be officially revealed at Miami Art Week tonight, have been leaked online.

They depict what looks like a modern take on Barbie’s dream car – with a stretched-out bonnet and prominent, wide grille.

Reacting to the pictures, some X users were sceptical of the bold move – which heralds the start of the brand’s new generation of electric cars.

One said: “Jaguar seems to be positioning itself as: ‘Tesla, but for liberals who hate Elon Musk.'”

But, the critic added that the decision might be an effective way of cornering a new anti-Tesla audience.

He said: “I don’t agree with it… but actually seems like a smart gambit. I take what I say back.

“There might actually be a market for this.”

The concept car showcases design points which are set to feature in the brand’s new line of EVs – the first of which will go to market in 2026.

It has wrap-around windows that get narrower at the rear of the car, sleek LED strips for lighting, and rear-view cameras – in place of a back windscreen.

According to the leaked pictures, it also comes in a blue version.

A Jaguar spokesperson told the Telegraph that it was “aware” of the images, adding: “Miami Pink celebrates the vibrancy of the city while London Blue, a modern take on the Opalescent Silver Blue of the E-Type, is a nod to Jaguar’s British heritage.”

The reveal attracted particular attention after Jaguar’s controversial rebrand, sparking accusations that the company had abandoned its fan base.

The brand launched a 30-second ad which, with slogans like “live vivid”, “delete ordinary” and “copy nothing”, alienated old school fans.

One Facebook user commenting on the video said: “If I wasn’t sure before, now I’m convinced Jaguar have completely lost the plot. This woke nonsense won’t gain anything.”

Another wrote: “Please tell me this is fake. Jaguar really has hit the self destruct button.”

And a third said: “As someone who worked for this iconic brand up until production cessation in June it really does sadden me to see the direction the company has decided to take.”

It also boldly axed its iconic big cat logo in favour of new gold lettering.

Each letter is in lower case apart from G and U, so that it’s written as JaGUar – with “seamlessly blended upper and lower case characters in visual harmony”, according to a spokesperson.

One X user compared Jaguar’s rebrand, which they branded woke posturing, to Volvo’s simple approach.

They wrote: “Jaguar is woke. Tesla is MAGA. Volvo is… safe.

“It’s way harder — and far more impressive — to make a brand statement this powerful without stoking the culture wars.”

Musk calls out Jaguar

Even Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla, hit out at Jaguar after its so-called woke rebrand.

On the social media platform X, he responded to Jag’s post by saying, “Do you sell cars?”

Jaguar responded with: “Yes. We’d love to show you. Join us for a cuppa in Miami on 2nd December? Warmest regards, Jaguar.”
