KHP catches hundreds of drivers speeding during Thanksgiving holiday

TOPEKA (KSNT) - State troopers issued more than a thousand warnings for drivers who were caught speeding across Kansas' highways over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) reported in a press release on Dec. 2 that it issued numerous warnings and citations and made multiple arrests during the Thanksgiving holiday. This reporting period began at 6 p.m. on Nov. 27 and ended at midnight on Dec. 1.

State troopers made more than a dozen DUI arrests and issued more than 2,100 citations and warnings regarding speed violations. One person from Lawrence died in a fatal crash worked by the KHP in Nemaha County during this reporting period.
