'Very special day for all!' Trump says he'll attend re-opening of Notre Dame Cathedral
President-elect Donald Trump said he plans to attend the re-opening of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, which was devasted by a fire in April 2019 and underwent a massive renovation worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
The famed cathedral, which first opened in 1345, sustained extensive damage from the attic inferno, including the collapse of its iconic spire.
French President Emmanuel Macron set an ambitious re-opening goal of five years, and in keeping with that timeline, the cathedral is set to re-open to the public on Dec. 8, with a ceremony planned a day earlier.

Trump posted on his app, Truth Social, on Monday night that he planned to attend the ceremony.
"It is an honor to announce that I will be traveling to Paris, France, on Saturday to attend the re-opening of the Magnificent and Historic Notre Dame Cathedral, which has been fully restored after a devastating fire five years ago," Trump wrote. "President Emmanuel Macron has done a wonderful job ensuring that Notre Dame has been restored to its full level of glory, and even more so. It will be a very special day for all!"
