Shock moment 90s rock band returns to the stage 25 years after massive hit – but horrified fans ask ‘what happened?’
MUSIC fans have been shocked to see a hit 90s band return to stage, 25 years since they rose to fame.
Iconic 90s band Sugar Ray performed some of their biggest hits at a recent concert in Newport Beach, California but it didn’t get the glowing reviews they might have hoped for.

Yet as the group reformed and performed their hits, music fans were less than impressed with the band.
The group performed together at the Lido Theatre in the city where they first formed but it appears time is not on their side as their music was slammed by fans.
Taking to social media where videos of the Sugar Ray comeback were shared, one person said: “Wow that’s terrible.”
Another added: “Really really not good.”
“Damn. Sounding like a cover band of their own band,” shared a third.
Another posted: “From top of the charts to sounding like a high school garage band.”
One fan who shared the footage online sniped: “When you lose the Grade 5 talent show.”
The band was originally made up of four members with Mark McGrath, Rodney Sheppard, Murphy Karges and Stan Frazier, but has evolved over time.
The band had numerous hits in the 90s and also made TV and film including in 2000 film Scooby Doo alongside Freddie Prince Jnr, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Linda Cardellini and Matthew Lillard.
The band’s last music release came in 2019, but the group has seemingly slipped out of the spotlight.
In more recent times lead singer Mark McGrath took to the stage again in disguise as he performed on The Masked Singer in 2021.
The singer dressed up as an Orca performing hits until he was ultimately ‘unmasked’ and his identity revealed by host Nick Cannon.
