Tyler was found “flat on his face” in just boxers and socks as the family holiday turned into a “living nightmare”, grandma Collette Kerry told the BBC.

The Essex lad was discovered less than 36 hours after arriving at the hotel with his grandparents, girlfriend, and other relatives.

Grandma Collette said another grandson alerted her to the tragedy on Friday morning by banging on her door.

She said: “We followed him to the basement of the hotel and Tyler is lying at the bottom of a lift shaft, the lift was closed and he had… just a pair of boxers and socks. He was flat on his face.”

The grim discovery had left her brain “like spaghetti” and Collette said she had not since stopped fighting for “justice”.

She said: “They are saying they are treating it as a suspicious death, but it will be up to the prosecutor to decide if that’s what it is going to be.

“It doesn’t seem real. It’s like I’m in a living nightmare… It’s a mystery about how he ended up there.”

He was last seen by his brother and cousin asleep on the sofa in the hotel’s lobby.

The pair left him for a few minutes to get a drink, but found only a t-shirt and jacket when they returned.

Members of staff told them that they had last seen Tyler near the lift.

Collette said Tyler’s trousers and a vape, covered in blood, were then found on the first floor of the hotel.

Tyler’s uncle, Alex Price, remembered his Manchester United-mad nephew in a touching tribute.

Alex said: “He was an energetic, exuberant young lad who was just settling into his life.

“He had a stable job, had just got himself a new car and was beginning to think about moving in with his girlfriend.”

His family are now looking repatriate his body and have launched a fundraiser to help with the cost.

A spokesperson for the hotel told the BBC: “We would like to share our heartfelt condolences to the family of Tyler Kerry who sadly passed away while on holiday at Trendy Lara Hotel.

“We will continue to provide support to Tyler’s family at this incredibly difficult time.

“As this is a police investigation we are unable to comment further.”
