Daddy Yankee Is Getting Divorced
These days, it seems no one — not even Daddy Yankee — is exempt from the lure of divorce. On Monday, the reggaeton singer, whose legal name is Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, shared in an Instagram Story that he and his wife, Mireddys González, are divorcing after 29 years of marriage. The couple wed in 1995 when they were both 17 and share three children: Jesaaelys, 28, Yamilet, 27, and Jeremy, 26.
“With a heart full of respect and honesty, I want to share some important news about my personal life,” the 48-year-old wrote in a statement in Spanish, per E! News. “After more than two decades of marriage and after many months of trying to save my marriage, which my wife and I share, today my lawyers responded to the divorce petition received from Mireddys.”

“I respect Mireddys’s decision, and I’m grateful for the time we shared, full of blessings and values, of love and with a beautiful family that will continue to be our priority,” Rodríguez added. “This is not an easy time, but I understand that it is part of my life process.”
Over the decades, the couple seems to have lived a relatively private life, with González serving as the singer’s former manager and CEO of El Cartel Records, the Puerto Rican record label Rodríguez founded in the ’90s. When Rodríguez retired from music in 2022, González wrote in a since-deleted Instagram video that her husband had “enjoyed Daddy Yankee for so long, but now it’s up to Raymond Ayala to enjoy what he’s built,” according to People.
Wishing these two frictionless divorce proceedings, and happy holidays?
