Zayn Malik Cancels Newcastle Concert Minutes Before Showtime, Releases Statement

Zayn Malik canceled his Newcastle, UK, concert on Tuesday (December 3), just minutes before it was set to begin.

Fans attending the 31-year-old’s singer’s concert that night were shocked by the last minute cancelation, with the announcement coming right before he was set to take the stage.

“We apologise for the late notice, it was his hope that he would be able to continue with the show,” a message said, via Daily Mail. “But this is no longer possible. Please contact your point of purchase for reschedule or refunds. If you have parents or guardians collecting you, please stay in the auditorium and wait to be collected.”

Zayn then took to his Instagram story to explain why he had to cancel.

“I’m so sorry to do this but my voice just isn’t there at all tonight and without it there’s no show,” he wrote. “I’m truly sorry to let you down, especially at such short notice…I held onto hope until the very last moment.”

“I’m hopeful with some rest tonight I’ll be back on stage tomorrow. My deepest apologies Newcastle love you all xx,” Zayn added.

The “What I Am” singer is currently slated to perform in Manchester, England on Wednesday (December 4), followed by back-to-back, rescheduled shows in Edinburgh on Sunday (December 8) and Monday (December 9).

Just last week, he dedicated a song to Liam Payne during a concert in the late singer’s hometown.
