Durable Designs: Three Boots by Louis Vuitton x Timberland

As we approach the winter solstice — the darkest day of the year — snow-ready styles by Louis Vuitton x Timberland offer some much needed sunshine. The latter lends its wealth of workwear knowledge to Louis Vuitton’s elegant atelier, creating an effervescent line of high-performance gear. Fashioned from luxe Italian leather, the designs bring light to December’s frosted face. A pair of six-inch ankle boots, fittingly called the ‘Exceptional Edition,’ remind us of Creative Director Pharrell Williams’ words: “The sun is shining on us.”

The Louis Vuitton x Timberland collection is chic and sturdy, characterized by straight lines and smooth textures. Western-inspired workwear hangs off the racks, displayed next to modern designs like the Keepall 50 Toolbox — a staple bag lined with coated monogram canvas — and a smattering of steel accessories. Three takes on the work boot (the LV 6-inch, the LV Boot, and the Exceptional Edition) anchor the garments. Functional footwear ensures the vision remains grounded in practicality.

Loyal to its outdoorsy origins, the LV 6-inch is tricked out for all seasons. Sculpted from supple Italian nubuck leather, the boots are waterproofed and sealed at the seams. The interior is well-insulated, adding an extra layer of comfort. Elsewhere, a signature LV Monogram adds intrigue to the clean silhouette.

Another iteration, succinctly called the ‘LV Boot,’ boasts an elegant, angular frame that amplifies the sleek 6-inch shape. The LV Boot puts forward a number of variants — including ankle, ranger, pull-on mid, and pull-on harness — outfitting each one with a rugged rubber outsole. Thanks to the high-calibre craftsmanship, these boots bottle the essence of Western workwear.

As the third canvas, the LV 6-Inch Exceptional Edition is limited to just fifty editions. To design the regal look with Timberland, Louis Vuitton tapped its talented in-house jewellers and shoemakers (the LV logo, cast in eighteen karat gold, makes this much obvious). On the tongue, a stylish scrawl relays Pharrell’s inspired words. Outside, Classic Monogram patterns grace waterproof Italian leather, looking shiny and sophisticated.

All three Louis Vuitton x Timberland boots represent a point of a convergence. Here, the skills of a storied French fashion house mix with the tried-and-true methods of an American workwear staple; working in tandem, the two create something strong, stylish, and entirely new.
