I couldn’t justify paying someone for a Christmas garland so got crafty with B&Q buys – now people are putting orders in
A WOMAN has revealed how she created an incredible Christmas garland using cheap buys after she couldn’t justify paying someone to make one for her.
The DIY fan from the UK used foliage bought from a local farmer and cheap buys from B&Q to create her festive display.
A DIY enthusiast has revealed that rather than forking out cash for someone to make her a Christmas garland, she made one herself using cheap buys[/caption]Thrilled with her cheap and cheerful creation, which cost her just £50 in total, Keely Ball took to social media to share a close-up look at her garland with others.
Posting on BARGAIN LOVERS Poundland, Home Bargains, B&M, Primark, The Range, a public Facebook group with 580,600 members, Keely shared a snap of her gorgeous garland, which she put outside her front door.
Alongside her post, Keely penned: “Couldn’t justify paying someone to do a garland for me – so got crafty!”
She explained that she used bargain buys to keep her costs low, as she added: “Four boxes of foliage from a local farmer for £25!
“Chicken wire [from] B&Q [for] £25 and I had the decorations.”
Keely explained that she had a box of 500 lights and used red baubles and bows to add colour to the garland.
She also confirmed that she got two boxes and used roughly six meters of chicken wire, thanks to a buy one get one free offer at Petite Peony’s, a farm local to her in Cambridgeshire.
She explained that she attached the chicken wire garland to the wall with round cable clips, which you can buy from Screwfix.
Rather than splashing the cash on a professional, Keely was able to save cash and make it herself, as she confirmed: “Took three days to make this each evening after work.”
Overjoyed with her garland, Keely later added: “This is just up for Christmas, the foliage will last till [until] around mid January.
“I wish I could keep this up all year, I love anything crafty.”
She claimed that it was “so easy” as she beamed: “Honestly I was so surprised”.
Are the Christmas bits out earlier this year?
It often feels like Christmas decorations and products start appearing in stores earlier each year.
Retailers typically begin to stock Christmas items well before the holiday season to capitalise on early shoppers and to extend the buying period. Here are a few reasons why it might seem like Christmas bits are out earlier this year:
Extended Shopping Season
Retailers aim to extend the holiday shopping season to maximise sales. By putting out Christmas items earlier, they encourage people to start their holiday shopping sooner.
Consumer Demand
Some consumers prefer to plan and shop for Christmas well in advance, so stores cater to this demand by stocking holiday items earlier.
Marketing Strategy
Early displays of Christmas items can create a festive atmosphere and build anticipation, encouraging people to get into the holiday spirit and start spending.
Competition
Retailers compete to attract customers, and being the first to display holiday items can give them an edge.
Supply Chain Considerations
Given recent disruptions in global supply chains, stores might be putting out Christmas items earlier to ensure they have enough stock and to spread out the demand over a longer period.
Keely’s post has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly racked up more than 800 likes and 136 comments.
Social media users were stunned with the DIY garland and many flocked to the comments to praise her creation.
