AN AIRLINE is launching three new routes from regional UK airports to a British Isle that’s often likened to the Caribbean.

From March 2025, Exeter Airport will see up to six flights per week with a year-round schedule.

A twice-weekly seasonal service will operate from Norwich Airport with stops in Jersey, from May 10, 2025.

Meanwhile, East Midlands Airport will have three flights per week.

Blue Islands already operates a route from Guernsey to Southampton alongside Aurigny.

Flights for the new routes will go on sale on December 11.

Ronnie Matheson, Chief Revenue Officer at Blue Islands, told Travel Weekly: “We’re delighted to be increasing Blue Islands’ services from Guernsey next year with no fewer than three new routes to complement existing flights to Jersey and Southampton.

“Exeter, East Midlands and Norwich are all long-standing destinations from Guernsey, and our new flights will be on sale from next week – providing plenty of opportunity to plan for 2025 whether travelling for leisure, to and from university, visiting friends and relatives or for business.

“Connectivity is essential for island communities, and providing that year-round connectivity is a key part of Blue Islands’ DNA

“Alongside today’s announcement, we’re looking forward to announcing further exciting developments in the coming weeks.”

Aurigny Airlines, the flag carrier for Bailiwick of Guernsey, also operates routes from Guernsey to the UK Mainland.

The flag carrier operates a route between London Gatwick and Guernsey, with as many as six flights operating between the two airports on any given day.

Plenty of other UK airports also have direct flights to Guernsey, including Manchester, Exeter, Leeds Bradford, Southampton, Birmingham, Bristol.

A direct route also operates between Dublin and Guernsey with Aurigny Airlines.

What is there to do in Guernsey?

Despite being only nine miles long and three miles wide, there’s plenty to keep holidaymakers entertained on Guernsey.

Guernsey is often compared to the Caribbean because of its golden beaches, crystal-clear waters and exotic landscapes.

In a video caption on TikTok, lifeinguernsey wrote: “You could be in the Caribbean” as she panned footage of white sandy beaches”.

Popular activities on the island include surfing, dolphin-spotting, and island hopping to some of the smaller Channel Islands.

There are believed to be 27 beaches on the island, including Le Grand Harve, Shell Beach, Ladies Beach, and Petit Bot Bay.

Out on the water, tourists can learn how to scuba dive, surf, go on boat trips for a spot of wildlife-watching and explore the island on a yacht.

There are plenty of walking and cycling routes through the countryside too.

Other activities include visiting Castle Cornet, an 800-year-old castle, sampling some Guernsey ice cream at one of the beach cafes, and exploring the island’s history at the Little Chapel.
