Topeka police investigate 20th homicide in 2024

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Topeka police are investigating the city's 20th homicide in central Topeka Tuesday evening.

Around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, the Topeka Police Department (TPD) responded to a call for service regarding a shooting in the 2000 block of Southwest 12th Street, according to a news release from TPD. Officers found an adult with life-threatening injuries, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

This is Topeka's 20th homicide investigation of 2024. TPD said in the release the investigation is ongoing at this time. KSNT 27 News will provide updates as they become available.
