I was intimidated by I’m A Celeb’s jungle shower – you feel REALLY vulnerable, admits Ashley Roberts
ASHLEY Roberts has said the I’m A Celeb jungle intimidated her, because of how vulnerable she felt while using it.
Ex Pussycat Doll Ashley starred on I’m A Celeb in 2012 and made it all the way to the final, eventually finishing as runner-up.
And one thing that viewers have enjoyed on the show over the years are the sizzling shower scenes.
The likes of Ashley, Helen Flanagan, Myleene Klass and Katie Price have wowed in their skimpy bikinis in the jungle.
But the Heart Breakfast DJ admitted that the filmed bikini showers in the jungle aren’t as enjoyable as they look.
In an exclusive chat with The Sun, Ashley said: “I think that you feel vulnerable because you don’t know what angle they’re coming at.
“You don’t know what’s going on. So I was definitely intimidated by the shower scenes, but you just kind of get on with it because I was like I’ve got to wash at the end of the say.”
Ashley went on: “It was the shower or it was washing in the pond and the pond was being dipped in over and over again with people, I was dumped in fish guts and dipping in.
“I can get why people feel like they don’t necessarily want to show that off, but it is a show that you are saying yes to where you’re followed by cameras at all times.”
And this month it was revealed that the famous shower scenes are in danger of being axed – because this year’s cast wanted to cover up.
Executive producer Olly Nash said ahead of the new series: “It’s funny, they (celebs) have all asked about that this year, but most people just cover themselves up.
“And it’s absolutely changed. I think the whole world has changed, hasn’t it a lot over the years?”
Ashley also spoke about the next level hunger you experience when you’re in the I’m A Celeb jungle.
But luckily for Arizona-born Ashley, her I’m A Celeb days are a thing of the past and now she’s enjoying Frankie & Benny’s brunches whenever she can.
Ashley said she’s a big Frankie & Benny’s fan because their food is like a little slice of her home in the US, now that she’s living here in the UK.
The star explained: “I used to actually do a TV show that was based out of Rockefeller.
“And it kind of takes me back to that time being in New York, like the good big portion, yummy pasta, the good pizza. I mean, honestly, the food in New York is insane.”
Ashley said the New York style pizza is the best because Frankie & Benny’s do it “so well,” but said she’d have anything off the menu.
She also revealed that it’s her go-to spot for brunches with Heart Breakfast co-star Amanda Holden.
“Because we finish work at 10 we’ll usually go for a brunch or something right after because we don’t like to do stuff like later in the day because it messes with our schedule, especially in the week.
“So it is nice to go for like a girly brunch and have some fun,” Ashley added.
