MLA claims Prithvi Shaw’s inner circle exploiting him, blames them for his downfall, says ‘yahan wahan ghoomate…’
New Delhi: There is no doubting Prithvi Shaw’s talent, but many wonder what went wrong for the right-handed batter, once hailed as a ‘generational talent.’ The youngster who took India to victory in the 2018 U19 World Cup went unsold at the IPL mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Shaw even scored a century on his Test debut, but since the start of the 2020s, his career has been going downhill.
Questions are also being raised about Prithvi Shaw’s current way of life, with some saying that he has lost the necessary drive and motivation. In fact, MLA from Kalina Sanjay Potnis has now claimed that this batter is surrounded by wrong people, which may have been contributing to his trouble.
He further added that the people around Shaw are taking advantage of him and show no concern for the hard work he needs to put in to make a successful comeback.
“His game is not bad, the people around him are of different kinds. No one is taking care of his sport, sab uska faayda he utha rahe hai. No one is with him at the moment, he is dependent on himself. After he left (Santacruz to Juhu to Bandra), no one took care of him,” Potnis told The Indian Express.
For those unaware, Potnis was the first person to offer assistance to the Shaw family by providing them with a flat in Santacruz, which significantly reduced Prithvi Shaw’s travel time from Virar.
In the on-going Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Prithvi Shaw has had a tough time as an opening batsman for Mumbai. He has been dismissed for a duck in two of the six matches played.
So far, Prithvi Shaw has scored 130 runs in six matches, with his highest score being 40 against Nagaland.
