What Heung-min Son was spotted doing after Spurs defeat to Bournemouth
Heung-min Son was spotted making an interesting gesture to his teammates as the Tottenham squad looked extremely dejected following their loss to Bournemouth.
The latest loss was a huge blow to the players’ confidence
The Tottenham players needed to muster up a response after failing to beat Fulham at home, but that never came at the Vitality Stadium.
The away side was second best all over the pitch and in the end, one can argue that the 1-0 scoreline flattered them.
Gauging the social media response, this latest loss seems to have been the final straw for many Spurs fans, who now appear convinced that this project under Ange Postecoglou is doomed to fail.
Heung-min Son’s gesture after the full-time whistle
After the full-time whistle blew on Thursday, many Tottenham players appeared dejected and were walking off the pitch without acknowledging the fans.
Son was frustrated by this and gestured to his teammates to go over to the away section to applaud the travelling fans.
Some of his teammates subsequently followed through, going over to the Spurs fans to applaud, only to be greeted by incessant boos.
The response of Tottenham’s travelling contingent was telling
Spurs’ travelling fans are usually extremely loyal and back the team through thick and thin, and they usually do not jeer the players as the home crowd does.
To see the away fans react in the manner that they did on Thursday was very concerning and sheds light on the mod of the fan base.
While the boos were understandable on the back of that performance, it was embarrassing to see a handful of fans resort to abuse and shouting insults at the players and Postecoglou.
