MATCH REPORT | DARTFORD 4 BOGNOR REGIS TOWN 0

A four-goal blitz in the first-half proved to be enough, as Dartford brushed aside struggling Bognor Regis Town in front of 805 supporters at Bericote Powerhouse Princes Park.

As Storm Darragh raged around the stadium making playing conditions difficult, the visitors struggled to deal with the Dartford attack. Nor did the manager-less Rocks take the early warning signs seriously, as George Whitefield sent a header narrowly over the top of Ryan Hall’s crossbar in the third minute, before Olly Box did the same thing six minutes later!

Olly Box then saw his 19th minute effort saved by Ryan Hall, before Denzelle Olopade put the hosts ahead after Josh Hill’s long-range drive was palmed into his path by the Bognor Regis goalkeeper (28).

The goal injected even more confidence into Ady Pennock’s outfit, and it wasn’t long before Box pinched the ball from under Bognor’s nose to fire in a second (31) to the delight of the home crowd.

Two duly became three, as George Whitefield got on the end of a lovely Samir Carruthers cross to head the ball beyond the hapless Hall after forty minutes.

Then Dartford skipper Josh Hill scored in similar circumstances four minutes later after getting to Louis Dunne’s free-kick first, as the hosts’ first-half dominance was rewarded in style.

Bognor Regis Town put in a damage limitation performance during the second forty-five, as the game became rather scrappy and the adverse weather conditions began taking its toll on both teams.

Despite Bognor beginning to create the occasional opportunity, Jacob Marsden never appeared to be troubled as he went on to register his fifth clean sheet of the season (fourth in the league).

In fact, it was the hosts who came close to adding to the scoreline as Olly Box saw another effort saved by Ryan Hall just five minutes after the restart (50).

Ady Pennock made his first change in personnel after 65 minutes, when Jeremiah Pinder replaced Louis Dunne. This was followed by new Leyton Orient loanee signing Hayden Bullas coming on for Samir Carruthers (67), before Samuel Okoye made way for Tyler Christian-Law (72). Finally, the Dartford boss made a double swap in the 79th minute with Eddie Dsane and Duane Ofori-Acheampong coming on for Olly Box and Callum Jones respectively.

Returning to the action, we find Denzelle Olopade come close with a good solo effort (71), before The Rocks’ skipper Calvin Davies saw red after receiving his second yellow card of the afternoon for a very late challenge on the excellent Sam Odaudu (78).

Having scored for the third consecutive home game, the excellent George Whitefield was awarded with the Man of The Match, as the result sees Dartford climb to fifth in the Isthmian Premier League table having won three of their last four league fixtures, while stretching their unbeaten league run to eight games.
