Ex-Red Sox Top Prospect Reportedly Drawing ‘Real Interest’ From Rival
The Blue Jays are in the hunt along with the Boston Red Sox for Juan Soto, but they’re also looking at other options in the market.
Toronto has to contemplate the futures of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette, but it likely believes Soto could help with that. For the upcoming 2025 season, the Jays have other needs, like at third base.
John Schneider’s side was linked to the likes of Alex Bregman, Willy Adames, and Ha-Seong Kim. However, it’s unlikely they land one of those stars. That might be why Yoán Moncada is drawing “real interest” from the Blue Jays, according to Francys Romero on Friday.
Moncada hasn’t lived up to the hype he generated while in Boston’s farm system. The 29-year-old’s career has been plagued by injuries. However, after a year of Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Ernie Clement, Toronto could use anyone serviceable to man the hot corner.
It seemed like Moncada’s MLB career could have been over after eight years with the Chicago White Sox, but he could get one last chance and return to the American League East.
