Six dead after car goes airborne and crashes in New Jersey

NEWARK, New Jersey (PIX11) – Six people were killed in a fiery car crash in Newark, New Jersey on Friday evening, according to the Essex County Prosecutor.

The incident happened just before 11 p.m. on Raymond Boulevard near the on-ramp for Route 1 and 9 Southbound.

The vehicle somehow went off the roadway, into the air, struck a support column for the Pulaski Skyway, and immediately caught fire after landing, officials say.

Information on the victims and their relation to each other was not immediately made known by authorities.
