Jaime Foxx Jokes About Diddy Conspiracies in New Standup Special

Jaime Foxx finally opened up about the mystery illness that left him hospitalized in April 2023 in his new Netflix comedy special, Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was… And that wasn't all. While the 56-year-old revealed that the diagnosis was a brain bleed that led to a stroke, which left him unable to remember 20 days,, he also addressed online conspiracies that his former friend Sean "Diddy" Combs was trying to kill him.

Foxx was responding to rumors that Combs had somehow attempted to poison him, possibly because he was a witness to the rapper's alleged sexual assault crimes, which he's currently awaiting trial for.

"The internet said Puffy was trying to kill me, that’s what the internet was saying," the Oscar-nominated actor joked during the special. "I know what you thinking, ‘Diddy?' Hell no, I left them parties early. I was out by 9:00, something don’t look right. It’s slippery in here."

"Your life doesn’t flash before your face. It was kind of oddly peaceful. I saw the tunnel. I didn’t see the light. I was in that tunnel, though. It was hot in that tunnel. Sh-t, am I going to the wrong place in this mother--ker?" he later recalled, quipping: "Because I looked at the end of the tunnel, and I thought I saw the devil like, 'Come on.’ Or is that Puffy? I’m f--king around."

The theories reached a fever pitch after Joe Rogan discussed them during a November episode of his podcast, after audience members leaked part of the bit.

"Jamie Foxx just recently said that P. Diddy poisoned him and that's why he got that stroke. He talked about it on stage," Rogan said, per The Daily Mail. "He talked about it on his Netflix special."

"Bro, I think there was some crazy sh-t going on," he continued. "I think murders, alleged murders. A bunch of people got pneumonia, a bunch of convenient people died of pneumonia."

Though Rogan admitted that it was possible that the remarks were just jokes as part of the comedy routine, he also left it open to interpretation. "It's possible, that's totally possible, but it's also possible he was explaining why he went to the hospital and he hasn't talked about it since," he added.

In either case, while Combs may or may not be found guilty of other crimes, it's now unequivocally clear that he had nothing to do with Foxx's episode.
