Topeka to host Flyover Cornhole Tournament with $20,000 cash prize
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Cornhole competitors from across the country will soon compete in the capital city.
Professional cornhole players, league amateurs and even the occasional backyard BBQ players are invited to compete in the Flyover Cornhole Tournament at the Stormont Vail Events Center. The tournament is open to men, women and coed teams, according to a news release from the Stormont Vail Events Center.
The tournament will consist of three days of cornhole competition. There are opportunities for all kinds of teams and players like coed games, senior and junior games, singles and doubles and even a corporate challenge. According to the news release, this tournament will end in one of the largest cast prizes in the region at $20,000.
"The ACL game here a couple years ago at Stormont Vail Events Center, and it was a big event," Tournament Director Mark Evans said. "Topeka is really centrally located so we get people from all over the U.S. that flew into that event. So we're like why not us try to do something over there as well. So, the city is helping us out to make this a big event with a ton of prize money."
"The opportunity to play against people from different parts of the country, which I'm assuming will draw, kind of makes you see where you're at," cornhole player Joe Munoz said. "I'm always wanting to get better so there's always somebody out there that's better, and I want to beat that person so to speak."
The Flyover Cornhole Tournament will be from April 18-20, 2025 in the Exhibition Hall at the Events Center. To learn more about the event or sign up, click here.
