Ben Stiller and His Focker-in-Law Might Reunite
Long time no see-quel. After nearly 14 years, a fourth Meet the Parents movie is reportedly in the works at Universal Pictures. According to Deadline, Ben Stiller and his onscreen focker-in-law Robert De Niro are in early talks to reunite in the cast alongside Teri Polo and Blythe Danner. All four actors starred in Meet the Parents, the 2000 comedy that was followed by Meet the Fockers in 2004 and Little Fockers in 2010. The franchise follows couple Greg Focker and Pam Byrnes (Stiller and Polo) and their very different sets of in-laws. Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand played Greg’s parents, but it’s reportedly not clear yet if they’ll be coming back for the latest sequel. Same goes for Owen Wilson, who starred as Pam’s ex, Kevin.
Still, there will be some familiar faces in the crew. Jay Roach, who produced all three Meet the Parents movies and directed the first two, will reportedly produce the new installment alongside De Niro, Stiller, Jane Rosenthal, and John Lesher. Meanwhile, John Hamburg is set to go four-for-four in the franchise and write the screenplay. We haven’t gotten any official plot details so far, but unless Universal wants to invest in some serious CGI de-aging, it seems safe to assume that Meet the Parents 4 will be following the Byrnes and Focker families later in life. No title has been confirmed yet, but our money’s on Meet the Grandparents or Old Fockers.
