Southeast Austin fire leaves 5 people displaced

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A fire in southeast Austin Tuesday night left five people displaced, according to the Austin Fire Department. The fire was at a home in the 5200 block of Copperbend Boulevard, which is located near East Stassney Lane and South Pleasant Valley Road.

AFD said there was heavy fire coming through the roof upon their arrival. After the fire was under control, no injuries were reported.

Due to the damage from the fire, two adults and three children were displaced from one side of the duplex. AFD said they will provide support by the Central Texas Red Cross and the Austin Police Department's Victim Services.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to AFD.

The agency said crews will remain on scene overnight to monitor hot spots.
