Photographer: Jim PastoreSummary Author: Jim Pastore
Shown above is the Super Harvest Moon during the partial lunar eclipse of September 18, 2024 (approximately 1:30 a.m.). It's observed here silhouetted with the Santa Catalina Mountains, north of Tucson, Arizona, in the foreground. Just the upper left-hand corner of the Moon was within the umbra (Earth's shadow). The next such eclipse of a supermoon won't occur until October of 2033.
