India among top three contributors to tourism emissions during 2009-2019, study estimates

A study reveals tourism emissions surged by 60% between 2009 and 2019, largely due to increased travel demand in India, the US, and China. China's domestic tourism had the largest impact, adding 0.4 gigatonnes of emissions. Without intervention, these emissions are projected to double every 20 years, jeopardizing Paris Agreement goals.
