Re: Davies Post Match
TarquinHe was over generous. But a lot of our fans on here were overly harsh. Somewhere in between lies reality.
Quite, and that's usually the case.
He said we were in control, and we were.
He said we were patient, and we were...although there's a fine line between patient and ponderous - and I thought we were a bit the wrong side of that line last night.
Exeter offered very little, bordering on nothing first half. Their goal was a freak - I didn't particularly think Peacock-Farrell was fouled, but Davies was adamant he was. I haven't seen footage of it.
We missed an absolute goober right at the start. I didn't think Anderson's disallowed goal was offside and I was dead level with it - the officials didn't seem sure either, but they decided to rule it out anyway. Again, I haven't seen footage.
May's disallowed effort was clearly off. We should / could have had another one or two on the break last 15 minutes or so.
They offered more threat second half on the break but butchered a couple of decent situations trying to put in one more pass.
We won and deserved to win, I never felt we weren't going to win.
Perhaps Davies put a slightly generous spin on - but not delusionally so.
Nobody will ever be as critical of us as a lot of our own fans are.
We could have been better, I want us to be better and i'm confident our manager wants us to be better. But we were good enough to win in the meantime while we are trying to get better. It's preferable to the alternative.
