Religious people are not more generous than atheists—with one exception

Religious believers are no more generous than atheists—at least as long as they don't know what the recipient believes in. Finding this out increases generosity significantly, mainly because people give more to those who share their religion. This is the conclusion of a study carried out in Sweden, the U.S., Egypt and Lebanon by researchers at Linköping University, Sweden.
