Who is Guy Martin’s partner Sharon Comiskey?

DAREDEVIL Guy Martin fronts the Arctic Warrior show on Channel 4.

Guy Martin has pulled off some incredible stunts, but this time in a two-part series we see him travel 200 miles above the Arctic Circle to embed with royal marines at minus 20 degree temperatures.

Who is Guy Martin’s partner Sharon Comiskey?

Sharon Comiskey is an Irish publisher currently living in the UK.

She is believed to have met Guy Martin in 2010 at a moped race in Ireland, at which time she was reported to have been working for a publishing company in Dublin.

Comiskey tends to keep to herself and is quite private, with her Instagram account not open to the public.

Her bio reads: “Mum to Dot, Nigel, Steve, Layla cat. Some say better some lesser half to the formidable Guy. Trying to be the best version of a human I can be.”

Marriage

Guy was adamant that he didn’t believe in marriage and has said he’s “not up for it”, in the past.

Previously when asked about marriage he said: “She wants to get married, I’m not up for it.

“I’m not the marrying sort of man.

“No one trusts anyone. My missus obviously doesn’t trust me, that’s why she wants to get married.

“But I’m not bothered, I don’t need it. Getting married just to keep her happy is the wrong reason.

“I’m quite happy doing what I’m doing. I don’t cheat, I don’t f*** about.

“I can’t see that day ever coming.

“We’ve been together about seven years and she keeps wittering on about it.

“I just go to the default — nod, smile and agree.”

A change of heart

However, in July 2023, Guy had a change of heart.

Guy shared his plans to get married to his long-term girlfriend, Sharon, despite previously believing he would “never” tie the knot with anyone.

The couple are now engaged.

Speaking to Radio Times he said: “I bought my missus an engagement ring.

I don’t want a girl off the telly. I’m quite happy with my Sharon!

“There will be about half a dozen at the wedding. We’re not flash people.

“We’ll just go to a registry office in Grimsby and get it done,” he continued.

Asked why he had “U-turned” on the idea of matrimony, he explained: “We’ve got a kid.

“She puts up with me, I put up with her, we get on with it. And it would make her happy.

“I’m going to do a daft pushbike ride next year, and it makes our life far easier if we’re married.

“And I don’t want a girl off the telly. I’m quite happy with my Sharon!” he added.

Do the couple have children?

The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter called Dottie, on October 23rd 2017.

The motorbike racer revealed earlier this year in his autobiography We Need To Weaken The Mixture how the birth of his daughter “changed his life completely”.

He said: “Dot, no middle name, was born in Grimsby. I stayed up the top end during the birth.

“The doctors ended up cutting her out of the sunroof. I didn’t really want to see any of that.”

What happened to Guy Martin?

Some time after the birth of his daughter, Guy stepped down from his daredevil antics.

The TT legend said: “People still ask me why I don’t go back, and when they do they’re just showing a complete lack of understanding of the motivations involved in competing at a place like that.

“Going back because it’s what I did and I was sort of all right at it is not a good reason to race the TT.”

However, fans were happy to find out that Guy will remain in the public eye through television and media work, despite his professional retirement.

In 2021, he launched Guy’s Garage, a Channel 4 show centered around the renovation of classic cars as racing vehicles.

The show saw Guy take the revamped cars around the racing circuit in Europe.

On December 11, 2024 a new Channel 4 show aired featuring Guy take on a new challenge.

The series is called The Arctic Warrior and in it viewers witness Guy training with the Royal Marines in one of the most harshest of environments on Earth to see if he’s got what it takes to become a commando.

Guy’s diagnosis

In July 2024 Guy revealed that he was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome.

Asperger’s or Asperger’s syndrome is a form of Autism that can mean for some people social interactions are difficult and people with this condition may have restricted interests and distinctive strengths.

Most people are diagnosed with a form of Autism from a child, but Guy didn’t know he had the condition until his fiance urged him to be assessed.

Talking to the Sunday Times about his diagnosis he said: “I was turning her [Sharon] crackers, so she forced me — well, not forced me, but she said: ‘Will we go and see this psychologist?’

“Anyway, I sat there for a day, and it turned out it was a form of autism.

“It’s true I’ve been diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, but I would say, What a load of tripe.

“They try to put names to it — ‘Oh, he’s like that because of this’.

“Everyone’s different. We’re all different.”

Guy added: “The way I look at it is that maybe having that is why I am the way I am.

“Maybe that is all down to the autistic side. I don’t know.

“If there are any benefits to having it, it’s that you just get your head down and get on with things.

“I apply that to the way I work.

“If you’ve got an awkward job at work, you just get your head down until it’s sorted.”

What is autism?

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is an incurable, lifelong developmental condition that affects how people perceive the world and interact with others.

It affects around one in 100 people in the UK and is three to four times more common in boys than in girls.

Many people with ASD find it hard to understand other people’s feelings and emotions, and they may have difficulty holding conversations.

When they are young, their language development may take longer and they can struggle to use facial expressions, using gestures to communicate instead.

They may also find it hard to connect with other people and to hold eye contact with unfamiliar individuals.

Many children with ASD like to follow a routine, and changes to this can cause distress.

High functioning autism is an informal term some people use to describe those on the autism spectrum disorder.
