12/12/2024: Colder, windy, few flurries

The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:

Bundle up! In the wake of yesterday's big rainfall, temperatures are running much cooler this morning. There may be a few flurries through the day in the Capital District, but steady snow is confined to the western Adirondacks.

Within the bands of snow coming off of Lake Ontario, we do expect decent accumulations. Today and tomorrow, up to a foot may fall around Lowville. Within our viewing area, up to a half foot may fall in places like Inlet, Old Forge, Big Moose, and Raquette Lake. Parts of the Green Mountains in Vermont may see up to an inch from "upslope" snow showers and winds force air uphill into those areas.

Very bright, but very chilly for the rest of this week. Expect morning lows in the teens and afternoon highs barely in the 30's Friday and Saturday.

More clouds expected Sunday, with some snow Monday morning, turning to rain as temperatures rise into the 40's that afternoon and into the day Tuesday.
